The Swim Instructor Certification will give participants the skills and
knowledge required to teach swim lessons to both novice and
professional swimmers. The format is designed to offer new and
innovative ideas to update present aquatic programs for both group and
private lessons.
Requirements: Participants must be 15 years or older and in good
health. A waiver form, diving for a 10 pound brick in deep water and
swim assessment of 300 meters using breast and free-style strokes. Professional
Rescuer CPR certification is included in this course. An
instructor's rating is obtained by passing a written test (75%) and
demonstrating successful teaching skills.

& rotary breathing
- Refinement of 5 strokes
for a novice swimmer (Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Elementary Back
Stroke, Breast Stroke & Side Stroke)

- Synchronized swim
routines
- Preventative medicine
for common injuries in swimmers
- Basic First Aid
This certification is valid for a period of 3 years and can be
reinstated by completing a complete challenge. However, CPR
re-certification is required annually. Partial materials will be
given the first day of scheduled class.
PREREQUESITES:
- Minimum age of 15 years
old
- Sign a Liability Waiver

- Swim 300 yards continually
using these strokes in the following order:
1.
100 yards of front crawl using
rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick.
2.
100 yards of breaststroke. The stroke must be demonstrated using
Pull, Breathe, Kick, Glide sequence.
3.
100 yards of either front crawl using
rhythmic breathing or breaststroke as described above.
4.
Starting in the water, swim 20 yards
using front crawl or breast stroke, surface dive to a depth of 7-10
feet and retrieve the 10 pound brick off the bottom of the pool. Return to the surface, swim 20 yards
back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without
using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute 40 seconds. These pre-requisites must be
successfully performed on the first night of training.

The Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course is the most up-to-date
lifeguard program with refined rescue techniques and streamlined course
layout that provides more water time for participants to practice and
refine skills.
This is a professional level rescuer course that requires strenuous
skills which includes First Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR. Students
must meet pre-requisites to participate in this program.
